Head of Design – FMCG

The main objective of this role is to ensure smooth execution of major brand design projects across the entire Asia product portfolio. This means planning, organizing, and implementing consistent design principles and production processes to ensure that the design/production guardrails are met. The main objective of this role is to ensure smooth execution of major brand design projects across the entire  Asia product portfolio. This means planning, organizing, and implementing consistent design principles  and production processes to ensure that the design/production guardrails are met. This role needs to drive overall  design excellence within a fast paced consumer goods environment (e.g. beverages, snacks, nutrition) in a critical region.

Accountabilities :

  • Lead & Takes ownership of the visual identity for specific brands in the portfolio.
  • Leading internal and external design partners to execute solutions for GCR Business.
  • Working in collaboration with the SR Design director, Brand teams, insights teams and global design team while  leading design team members.
  • Generates creative design proposals (visions, scenarios, concepts) in order to visualize the desired output and  share it with internal and external team members. 
  • Participates in research activities and effectively translates customer needs into actionable design requirements. Execute those requirements into design solutions. Responsible for driving to final design recommendations,  decisions and design approval to enable artwork execution / production phases. Ensure thorough consideration of  all project variables and that the final solution.
  • Deeply involved in GCR & APAC strategic projects and overall regional structural packaging & experience – Participate in the creation of global design strategies by bringing the voice of the region to the forefront by liaising  with global design heads.
  • Demonstrates an ability to understand the technical, social and emotional values that have critical business  significance. Maintain a flow of value through the integration of the business strategies, market and social trends,  and available technologies.
  • Develop and adjust strategies and/or process to meet changing market and competitive conditions –Champion and embed GCS understanding, control, ownership and execution within GCR to achieve an effective audit rating.

Requirements :

  • At least 15+ years of deep Design experience (brand experience preferred).
  • Product/Graphic designer Degree or similar.
  • Extraordinary design taste and skill.
  • Strong project management and design management skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic work environment; is comfortable with risk and uncertainty.
  • Effectively communicates in English (verbally and written) with internal/external stakeholders across all levels,  with Chinese or other Asian language as a plus.
  • Works well with others to deliver results; keeps others informed to avoid unnecessary surprises.
  • Capability to develop and visualize concepts through hand sketching or computer software
  • Extraordinary ability in using the Adobe Creative Suite software (is a Plus).
  • An incurable curiosity relating to all design things.
  • Great passion for new and creative trends.
  • Can work smoothly with a fast-paced interdisciplinary team.
  • Team oriented, brainstorming sessions or presenting in front of other team members.
